With the domain name we chosen, Li-KingCo or would
Li-KingLLC be a better choice? We will be selling Authentic Chinese Jewelry, clothing and other Chinese products made in China. We're also considering selling Yixing Teapots and Teapot, cup sets as well as Chinese loose leaf tea. I want our name to reflect this with our business of what we're selling. I hope you can give us some suggestions. Also, how do we start developing a website front page for what we're selling? We need help in this area as this is all new to us. I'll read all the information Yahoo has given us on how to start a business but it will take time to read all the material on how to get started. Any help I can receive, would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely, David R. & Huijun King, Li-KingCo

Li-KingCo has a much better ring to it than LLC.

I would consider the first step in setting up shop would be not to sell too much products (Unless you're a department store)! Focus on a specific type of product, for example, the clothing and accessories seem to be your first priority.

The name of the store, I realised, seems to be your last names, which does not reflect what you are selling. The second commenter gave good advice, a more product-specific name is more memorable.

I don't know if you are wanting the .com versions but your first was is gone. I wouldn't ever post a domain name without buying it first. People think they can buy it up real quick and try to sell it to you at a higher rate...much higher. I agree with the guy above though - neither is that memorable....try to stay away from dashes if at all possible.

If you want the easiest way to set up an online shop, I would use a hosting account that has a built-in shopping cart. That way, everything is point and click and you can use the shopping cart as your whole website-no site code knowledge required. Plus, depending on how you will be accepting payments, this method should already have it built in to accept credit cards through your merchant account, PayPal, or whatever you want to use.

Two suggestions:
siteservices.us has a 'Quick Shopping Cart' - stand alone all you need.

paypalsiteservices.com/contact.shtml has osCommerce cart already built into their plans - but you may need to contact them to sign up using their form, they have made some changes.

Hope this helps.

I am really pleased to read that you are ready to get your business online. This is a step in the right direction. You are asking a great question. Choosing a domain name is very important. I would advise the following based on your comments:

1. Stick with .COM as this extension receives the most traffic [i.e. eyeballs] on the internet.

2. Stray away from hyphens in your domain name. This are not easily remembered by consumers and they found very infrequently in domain names overall.

3. I would suggest that you try several "name spinning" services to determine the best name for your company. A "name spinning" service would allow you to input words like, "chinese, tea, online shop" and get back suggestions for domain names that are available for registration right now.

Here are some web sites to go to for name spinning:

www.ovtkeywors.com
www.domaintools.com
www.domainsbot.com

Hope this helps!

An LLC is a specific form of business organization. It makes no sense for you to identify your business as an LLC if it is not one, and it may even violate the corporation laws in your jurisdiction. It is unwise to toy with those endings as though only their "sound" mattered.

I would never remember either of those if I saw it in an ad, on a park bench or the side of bus. Why not make it more memorable? greatgoods.com or authenticgoods.com or something that people can remember.
