What are your thoughts on the meaning on this poem? I find myself coming to a different conclusion each time I read it and now I'm curious to see what other people think. And please note, this isn't for a school assignment, rather it's purely to help satisfy my own curiousity. Thanks for sharing your opinion on this poem!

IN PERSPECTIVE

What, keep love in *perspective*? -- that old lie,
Forced on the Imagination by the Eye,
Which, mechanistically controlled, will tell,
How rarely table-sides run parallel;
How distance shortens us; how wheels are found,
Oval in shape far oftener than round;
How every ceiling-corner's out of joint;
How the broad highway tapers to a point --
Can all this fool us lovers? Not for long:
Even the blind will sense that something's wrong.

~Robert Graves (1895-1985)

My Beautiful Butterfly

Dont light on me my beautiful butterfly
I saw you spread your wings before me
and I knew you.
Unforgettable beauty
You are free
You are fresh and new as the blossoms near
Taste of sweet nectar and
dance on colorful petals
and spread the pollen far
Dont light on me my beautiful butterfly
for my colors are faded
petals fragile and stem wont carry weight
Long before I saw you
I longed for you and loved you
and I imagined you
and you had touched me pure and
fragrant in my tender spring
Dont light on me my beautiful butterfly
but dont forget me
Bask in the dawn and soft sunlight
Feel the summer breeze flutter
through your velvet wings
alight on one lovely bloom
and be still
and be happy
my beautiful butterfly

i like reading and suggest improvements to ppl's poetry, actually ont his website. i like not knowing the person, so nothing's personal, and so they noe my identity and not my representation, like society today is forced to be judged on. i love poetry myself, and am deep.
but i read some of these, and they get ur tears going, or r philoshic, and i like that. i like poetry in general, so when i say this, it doesnt have to ryme:
but can someone write something, it has to be origanal. i wuld like to see that ppl actually had courage or took the time , even 2 mins to write something short, or long. to express themsleves, for inspiration, to let things go, and besides its easier than goignto the library and renting a book.
i noe its reely weird, but.....idk.....it could be two lines, just give me something that i'll feel some emotion, or soemthing to keep em thinking....

let go

Surrender

I usher in the air
And let it infuse my being
Defend my lifting limbs against
The placid lake

Floating rigidly
I watch the golden leaves glow
With the cool sheen of the night
Stars winking behind the brittle veins.
Beckoning me to join them
In their dance
Dusk to deathly dawn.

I turn away

The air breaks from me
I am alone
Inch by inch by inch
The water is advancing
Drooling on my limbs
Seeping between my eyelashes
My teeth
Demanding attention
Receiving none
Drowning in fluidity

I let myself fall
It is inevitable
Depths unimaginable
Purging lies and half truths
Absolute purity waits in solitude

My mother wants to know the words to the "Little Match Girl".
Im not sure if that is the name or if it is about a little match girl. Her mother used to tell it to her as a child and she would really appreciate having this again. Thanks

I would also like to know of some other brilliant violin compositions. I heard that the 17th and 18th Italian violinists are really good. But please keep in mind that I am looking for the names of songs as opposed to those of composers and/or symphonies.

"American Capital of Culture" label -- what is it?

A group, perhaps self-appointed in Spain, regularly hands out some sort of a designation called "American Capital of Culture".
It also asks for plenty of money from the designatee.

Is this "American Capital of Culture" designation legitimate? Is it just a ruse to get money from cities and states?

Which songs are your favorite lyrically? I think In My Life is excellent. Almost everything off of Revolver album flows well. And I think one could consider the Abbey Road album to be a lyrical masterpiece.
