Yesterday I was watching a film about the life of Isaac newton and his contributions to science. Something that caught my attention was, newton had a best friend, they did stuff together and that guy left britain and newton really missed that guy. and everybody say he was gay.

I am studying for my midterm in my western civilization class. In order to study, im essentially taking the test by writing out who, what, when, where,how and why the term is importent to history in a short paragraph like the test. If you could please look over what I have written and see if there is anything i have missed, just keep into account that i have 20 of these that i have to study for the test. Thank you.

Hoplite Phalanx:
The hoplite phalanx was a battlefield tactic of the Archaic Greeks, used over much of the first millenea BCE. It was a tightly ordered unit of heavily armed, pike bearing men. It was created due to closer unit formation and the spreadin concept of the family farm. Because of the family farm more men were able to afford the armour so critical to the hoplite phalanx. The hoplite phalanx reigned supreme until its defeat in the 2nd century BCE by the Romans.

Has it done anything revolutionary or worthy enough to be remember thousands of years from now? Take Athens (more of a city state of Greece) it founded democracy, science, philosophy and created a whole new way of thinking. Persia at one time nearly ruled all of the known world. Great Britain; the simple fact that countries today still call it that even though it isnt the most powerful is enuff'. There are other nations that have, in some way, stood out above the others and furthered our development as Human Beings. My question is, can the USA compare or is there another country (currently) that is more "important" to Human History?
