I am taking a Maritime History class this semester and we have to do a 3000 work research paper. I was wondering if anyone had any unique ideas on what the topic should be. Im not very creative the only thing i can think of is the evolution of the american boat. The paper has to be on anything maritime however it must be relevant to the US. I can do it on cruise ships to the titanic or columbus but i want something different and unique. any ideas would be helpful thank you

Pretend that you are an 18 year old Black male in 1921 living in Macon, Georgia. You are wrongly accused of stealing several chickens by a group of white men. It is decided by these white men that they will try and scare you and punish you for stealing these chickens. Based on the readings in this lesson, describe what could have happened to this 18 yr. old black male.

Historically speaking, the AVERAGE span of any great civilization is 400 years.
Ancient Rome and America are very similar. After the Pax Romana (latin for "the great roman peace", lasted for about 100 years and was a time of prosperity), Rome began to see it's demise (from within). I feel that that 1900 - 2000 was america's "pax romana". We have become too liberal, lost moral foundations, and now we're starting to be attacked from outsied our borders (similar to the Mongols invading Rome)

Furthermore, a democratic society can not last.....it never has.

Just a few of my thoughts.......

Why did the Americans take control of the British during WW2? consdiering that we had been fighting since 1939 and the Americans since 1941, Why did the Americans lead D-Day AND the invasion of Italy in 1943?

We had been fighting from 1939, and so, do deserve more respect for our fighting memory! My Grandfather was a member of the Dunkrk Evacquation and was also a member of the British Desert Rats who fought at El Alamien. If he was still alive, he'd have a few things to say about your late entry into the war!

Why do you think Zinn selected the title A People's History of the United States as opposed to something like The History of the United States?

I think because the United States was founded by our people; and so on, our history began.

I need your opinions though. Thanks ;)
