I am looking for as much historical detail as psossible. What are the best steps to take?

The first step might be to contact the city accessor's office. They usually can tell you when the property was built by whom, and the accessed value of the property over the years. Also, check out the nearest library or historical society near the property for they may have useful info. Good luck!

I'd check first with the Register of Deeds at the county seat to research the chain of title. Then I'd see what I could find in old newspapers and city or town directories.
