To many Europeans and Americans...Rome is...

1.the only superpower, and cannot be compared with any other ancient empires like Persia, Egypt, and Han(China)

2.was the first empire that was run by democratic values and cosmopolitical ideal (Greece was an group of indipendent cities, not an empire)

3.built the foundation of our civilization, and even modern society owes countless things to this GREAT ROME

----------------------------------------------------
I mean...Are these all true? Personally I don think so.

Okay, I am a southern girl and i proudly fly my heritage flag(confederate/rebel), i always get told that it is racist, disrespetcful, mean and all things of that sort.
I actually got told take it down or get shot, well it is still flying, and it aint comin down wether we like it or not our Ancestor's did fight in a war and loose there lifes so if they will willing to stand there ground i am to.

Why do black(african american) people think it is so bad...Go read a history book, if you look on my chevy truck you will see the(bumper sticker) rebel flag and if this offends you GO TAKE A HISTORY LESSON, seriously if it does you dont know your history.

I actually had cable installed in my house, and the guy(black/african american) would not let me sign the release form till i told him what it ment, so i said okay and gave him a history lesson, he had thought it was hatred, its really not..
Sorry if it offended, but cut the crap, Its heritage.

I have read one report say that the origin of the phrase "It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye" comes from Ancient Rome or Greece (because of there being some rule that anything goes except eye-gouging which gets you immediately disqualified). Yet at the same time i have also read in other places that everything and anything was allowed in the Pankration, just so long as it stopped short of blatant brutality, thats all. So what is it actually?

Did the Romans use the same lower-case letters as we do? In other words, would they have been able to read latin texts of today? If not, when and where were our lower-case letters invented?

considering the history since the dawn of human civilizations, we can conclude one thing. no system, no government, no civilization and offcousrse no ones forever. its been 230 years since usa came into existence and has been a super power for almost 60 years now. soviet became a superpower few yrs before the usa (technically) and collapsed in 1991. history repeats. chinese empire was a superpower untill late 1200's and later collapsed and again now seems its coming back, same with India.all the superpowers have collapsed from indus, egyptian to british empire. now --- usa; i somehow see the slow and gradual weaking of the economy. it no longer has the lusture it used to have back in the day. whats the future for
USA (democracy)?
India (democracy)?
china (communist)?

honest answers welcomed. :)
