I have heard time and time again that its because you know you are going to be tickled. The problem with this theory is that I can sit someone in front of me and they can move toward me to tickle me (and I know they are going to tickle me) and it tickles anyway. I pretty much know the answer, I want to know what you all think.

Mariners often take Sun/Star sights just to compare the ship's position with GPS.
now as we all know that for sunlight to reach earth it takes about 8.5 minutes so that means the sun which i'm seeing is not acually there. this is the position where sun was 8.5 minutes before, but when calculating the sights the time is taken directly without any correction. also nowhere in the books which are used in the process (nautical almanac, norie's tables) any correction in this regard is mentioned. still mariners managed to get the right position. so where is the correction??
only serious answers please as i'm a mariner.

We have 2 aunts that live in London and own there own home ,neither have ever been married or have direct family ,it was always said that when they die the house would be sold and split between my husband and his sister.,who are there neice /nephew.Now it looks as if they will both go into residential homes at there choice .What happens to the house and any money they both have .We only want the best care for them but also dont want everything to go to the residential home. For example, antismoking organizations make it sound as though anyone who smokes will get lung cancer and they use scary sounding statistics like "smokers have a 10 times greater chance of dying of lung cancer," when the truth is that only 1% of nonsmokers die of lung cancer (meaning that 10% of smokers die of it -- not something like 90% which is what they make it seem).

And yes, I know smoking's not good for me, but I'm 24 and have smoked for 10 years and yet I don't have any of the horrible consequences that they threaten you with as a kid -- I don't have yellow fingers, skin and teeth, I don't get out of breath easily, I'm not out of shape etc etc. I want to quit, but I still question a lot of the antismoking propaganda.
