I have been to Vegas about 4 times or so in the past 15 years, mostly not by choice. 1 time for a bowling tournament,2 times for a convention ,and I also won a trip there also.
The first time I was there I visitied the downtown area just to see what all the hype was about and was not that impressed. I haven't been back to the downtown area since. The crowd was much different there, mostly that is where the locals go,and "seedy" individuals seemed to congregate there more than on the strip.
I took my picutre of the giant cowboy, had a buffet ,played a few slots, and couldn't wait to get back on the strip.
When in Vegas it probably is a good idea to rent a car, even though if you are on the strip the moving sidewalks, and the tram does make it easier to move around on the strip. The shopping is much better and that is where the action is really at,with all the shows and entertainment. Plus ,I felt much safer on the strip than the downtown area.
