Do pretty much everything but gamble!

I know that it's somewhat heretical, but as long as you consider all those people playing games as fools to be watched, not glamorous high-rollers to be emulated, most meals and attractions in Vegas are pretty cheap. Take in a show, go shopping, relax at Wynn. Walk into casinos and peoplewatch, if you wish. It's actually a lot of fun, once you get into it.

If you do gamble, do so with every expectation of losing everything you bet. Put gambling money (less than $100 is enough) in one pocket, and winnings in another. Use what you win to buy yourself a special treat (in Monte Carlo it was a fancy drink and a picture of myself on the terrace, looking posh).

walk look and observe
eat at the free buffets
watch other people lose their shirts while you retain yours.
Stay a ways off the strip at a cheaper lodging or if you can camp at the KOA or one of the parks.
If you drink alcohol, make your purchases at the local package store rather than the hotel bars
someof the shows are free or not very expensive if your check around and see what is going on. Price for no name entertainment is always less than for a star.
