I KNOW it's a long shot and I've checked out tonnes of places online but i haven't seen anything that strikes me. I've got a budget of 200 quid to spend a week, and I work in South Quay so somewhere around there would be great. Alternatively Canada Water, Canary Wharf, Swiss Cottage, Paddington or Primrose Hill would work too.

I've lived in a few places in London over the years and have been mugged twice so I'm looking for somewhere safe and relatively close to a Tube station.

I just figured, what the hell, put a question on here. You know when you hear of these people in this amazing apartments and you ask em where they got it from and they say "Oh, a friend knew the owner" or something' or other.

So that is the basis for my query. I'd be monumentally grateful for any advice anyone would give me or links or contacts you could send my way :)

I travel frequently to the UK and it would be a great convenience if I could open a UK bank account, eventhough I reside in the US and am a US citizen.

Does anyone know of any UK banks that allow US citizens *resident in the USA* to open a bank account? (the residency requirement is really the toughest part, so I've come to learn).

Near London, UK there is a memorial of missing, presumed dead crews of RAF lost during ww2. does anyone here know the exact name and location? there are the names of crew members listed. the memorial is a solitary standing building in the country, not the "RAF memorial" near hoses of parliament in London!.
another question: in the CIty, London there's a memorial of a big fire in 1666. it's a column with a golden statue or symbol on the top. do you know the name of the memorial?

Every other company/business/individual has to pay the London Congestion Charge for bringing their vehicles in to LCC areas within London. (£8 to £10 a day).

I have to fork up the money even though I'm not rich and don't like paying it...... but it seems big old superpower USA think they are above the law.

Why does America think it can disregard the laws of our country ?

It seems America has never paid the charge since it was introduced and now owe London Transport Network over £891,000 ($1.6 million).

Hello! Current U.S. citizen contemplating living/working in London at St. James. Square. I have a family of four with 2 children ages 5 and 8. I'm looking for any recommendations on places/suburbs to live. Primary considerations are proximity for commuting to St. James Square, quality of schools, safety/crime and dwelling costs. Any advice would be most helpful and appreciated. Thank you!

Hi,

I hold an Indian Passport and US greencard (issued after 1998)and will betravelling to LHR on BMI on 29th March. I need to take a connecting flighton Air India to Mumbai (AI 130 at 21.30pm) I do have an exemption for DATV
visa beacuse I hold a valid US greencard.

I would like to know if I will be able to clear my baggage as transit passenger in London and again check in with Air india for my onward flight. (So i will need to clear immigration in London!)

I came to know that i cannot check my baggage directly to Mumbai inBrussels as I hold 2 seperate tickets.

Thanks !
