I am Canadian and have lived here for ten years, in London for the past four. There are things which are great - I love the old buildings, seeing traditional ceremonies, the good selection in menswear stores, and the huge range of free cultural things to do. I used to live near Buckingham Palace and it was fun just to see soldiers on horses or carriages riding around. If you're from America, you'll find like me that distances are quite small and it's easy to see a lot in a short trip.
On the downside, there are parts of London blighted with a lot of graffitti, there's a lot of litter (I am moving to Singapore and am looking forward to the change), and a lot of young people are surly and rude. I lived in Northern Ireland for two years and people were friendlier than they are in England, at least to outsiders. They can still be pretty nasty to each other and even without bombs anymore the local news was often depressing. The first poster said it was cold - I would disagree. Southern England rarely gets snow and I miss it at Christmas, though I also had the two coldest summers of my life here.

It's Great Britain , you can travel anywhere in the country in less than a day( unless you take the train HA Ha ) There are many different accents and people who dont mind taking the piss out of each other (If you are English). The pubs are good the countryside green and fresh. We are not afraid to criticise our Government as they seem full of crap most of the time, and we play a lot in Taxes, but being English we keep a stiff upper lip and just get on with life. English people are generally trustworthy and helpfull.

Nice. Well most of it is. A bit expensive compared to the rest of the world. Weather changes daily and can be one thing 10 minutes ago and another 10 minutes later, temperature is never the same, last week down in the -3 to 5 degrees bracket, this week up in the 16 to 18 degree area.
City life is different from town life which is different from village life. Areas are different, lots of diversity in language, customs, lands, etc.
All in all a nice place to live, will never give it up to live abroad.

It's the same as anywhere else, same things to moan about, same hobbies and social circles, jokes, same jobs.
The only real significant differences are trivial things like calling petrol petrol instead of gas, paying in pounds, smoking in pubs and driving on the other side. But it's really all the same here and anywhere else. But it is the greenest place I've ever lived but how often does that effect your day to day life?

It's fun to beat up chavs, and unlike the US, we ain't controlled by media paranoia and propganda, believing we're the good guys, and have the right to police the world.
