PARIS PROJECT
Outline of monument in French: Salomon de Brosse

Qui: Queen Marie de Medici
Que: Today the Salomon de Brosse is used for tourism. The palace was used as a royal residence up until the time of the revolution, when it served as a prison for a short time. The palace took up its final incarnation as home of the French Senate in 1804. The gardens later opened to the public. Today the Queen Mother might see a young French family with a stroller and bicycle walking through the park, or Parisians visiting among the chairs lining the flowerbeds and pools.
Quand: The Salom de Brosse began construction in 1610. Baroque style fountain added its final touch in 1624.
Qu: Luxembourg Gardens (translate to French)
Pourquoi: The Salomon de Brosse was built so Queen Marie de Medici could mourn her husband’s death- to turn her negatives into positives.
2 faits: (interesting facts)
1.Find this photo. Her statue is on the left toward the tree line.
The sculpture depicts a woman

I have a 5 1/2 hour layover in Paris this Monday. Anyone have any suggestions? I was told the Air France shuttle goes straight to the Arc de Triomphe in 40 minutes. I figured I'd clear immigration and get straight on the bus to the Arc. That should eat up about 1 hour and 30 min to be safe. Then I give myself 1 and a half hours to look around, get a bite and get back on the bus. This should give me enough time to get back to the airport, non? Any suggestions or alternatives? I suppose there are cafes in the area. Anyone know what rush hour traffic will be like? I should be back on the bus to the airport by 5:30 since my flight leaves at 8:10.

I'm planning a trip to Paris. I'll be landing at Charles De Gaulle Airport on a Wednesday night, around 21:30 local time.

I'll also be departing from this Airport back to London 5 days later on the Monday, 17:00 local time.

What I want to know is about accomodation and transportation. I'm gathering that Charles De Gaulle is somewhat away from the City but accessible through public transport. Which Zone is Charles De Gaulle in, which zones are all the main and best Paris attractions in... Should we get Day passes each day; how much do they cost and which zones should they cover to ensure we can get back to Charles De Gaulle as well? Should we stay near the airport and travel to the city each day? If so can you recommend a good hostel near the airport? I looked on hostelbookers.com and they have reasonable prices, but can't tell if any of them are near Charles De Gaulle?

Any information, much appreciated!

I am a U.S. citizen, and am flying Air France for all flights. I have only 50 minute layover oneway, and 55 minute layover the other way. Air France says that it should take me 45 minutes at the most to disembark my arriving flight, and get to my departing flight. Is this a realistic estimate?
