I've been trying to find out the key secret ingredient or cooking
method that makes authentic French pastry--i.e pastry actually made in France, and purchased fresh in a "boulangerie"--taste so much better than the so-called French pastry bought in the states. As a frequent visitor to Paris, I can tell you there's a subtle but obvious difference in quality? What are Americans pastry chefs doing wrong?

We are thinking of moving to France in a couple of years. We will be retired with an income between $80k - $100K per year, but are concerned about the strong euro versus the dollar. since transferring two million would result in a loss of about half a million, switching to euro-denominated investments may not be a viable solution. Can anybody offer any advice, suggestions, comments about cost of living comparisons of the feasibility of this plan?

All answers are appreciated

We're honeymooning in French Riviera in May. Flying into Nice and spending 4 days on the coast before we leave on a cruise out of Monte Carlo to see the Mediterranean. If you have been to the French Riviera, please tell me which cities and attractions are well worth our time. Preferably non-tourist attractions unless they are an absolute MUST SEE & DO. Especially since we are honeymooning, anything especially romantic we should do - besides the obvious ;-).

I am 27 and single with no children and looking for something like New York but not New York. I want to know all about it and what does living in another country require. I am saving enough for a comfortable living somewhere else.

Off to Paris for the weekend - anyone know of any decent bars and clubs that you would recommend? Criteria is simply good drink, good service, good vibe.

Many thanks
