I missed it on my last visit but it is the area where there are a lot of street artists and studios etc. many thanks

Many thanks to everybody, I now remember the name Montmartre but I was getting nowhere trying to think what it was before all you kind people reminded me. I will not miss it this time.

its Montmartre. there are lots of street artists willing to earn a living by doing a portrait of you. The sacre cur stands at the top of the hill. worth a visit

It WAS Montmartre but that was 50 (or more) years ago.

Today what you'll find there is schlock being pawned off on gullible tourists, overpriced hot dog stands and souvenir shops.
