We're honeymooning in French Riviera in May. Flying into Nice and spending 4 days on the coast before we leave on a cruise out of Monte Carlo to see the Mediterranean. If you have been to the French Riviera, please tell me which cities and attractions are well worth our time. Preferably non-tourist attractions unless they are an absolute MUST SEE & DO. Especially since we are honeymooning, anything especially romantic we should do - besides the obvious ;-).

Hi from the French Riviera !

Honeymooning in the Riviera is a good idea. Villefranche-sur-Mer and the Cap-Ferrat are fantastic spots for that kind of vacation. Indeed those places are not overcrowded and very nice. From those places you can reach easily Èze village (a village built at 400 meters high above the sea). And don't miss the 3 scenic roads between Nice and Menton, you'll be breathless for sure (Basse, Moyenne and Grande Corniche in French).

I live in Nice and I often go there to relax. Walking on the Cap-Ferrat seaside is amazing.

Why the Riviera? Cruise?
Suggest Buy a U-rail Pass for the length of time you will stay in Europe.

You can ride any train, any time, as many times, to where ever in Western Europe!

Stay in Youth hostels! Rent a bicycle at the train station, you can take it on the train! Best hassle free transportation at a extremely LOW cost!

If possible, ALWAYS eat in the country side! Food taste better where the locals go!

Have you seen a play or ballet in London or Stuttgart Germany? Have you been in the Vatican City in Rome? I bet you would not consider LEGO LAND in Denmark?

No questions asked - you must eat in a Three Star Michelin Guide Restaurant! We do not have its equal in America! Don't even try to question it!

You might want to see Dachau in Germany or Budapest! The Old city of Heidelberg, in Germany.

Why not go on the Internet, and do your homework? I spent nearly 40 years and there is just too much to see and do!

Consider visiting REAL castles!

i would not pass the the Riviera in August it rather is rather overcrowded and costly. won't be able to you postpone your honeymoon until the 1st week in september, the climate remains captivating and a number of the vacationers have long previous living house (colleges have restarted in uk, France and Holland). you will fly into superb and you ought to hire a vehicle to appreciate this captivating section, arise into the hills inland and luxuriate interior the ost surprising ecosystem. purchase a Michelin green handbook to the Riviera it rather is rather consumer-friendly to apply and extremely complete. Have a solid wedding ceremony and Honeymoon!

I can't recommend any places in particular but I would recommend for you to rent a car and discover all those places on your own. Don't hesitate to stop in every little place between two major points. That's where you'll see a lot of the neat stuff, free of all the tourist (plus you're going in May so it's right before tourist season).
