As long as you can.

Seriously, Paris has such a rich variety of things to do and see it deserves a serious investment in time.

The Museums can absorb a vast amount of time and to even catch a surface glimpse of what is available will take 4 or 5 days.

Paris is also a city that invites you to relax and fall into its rhythms. That takes a bit of time but is well worth it.

The nightlife is excellent and with clubs that open late and don't close until sunrise you'll need a lot of time to recover every day.

Big advantage,no "Parisiens" during summer vacation (July and August), but something very interesting to discover is "Paris plage" (beach among the Seine) and much more.
At least a week ! but please, do not follow the usual tourist guide and just take a map or GPS and discover this beautiful city by your own.
Last advice, do not forget like all big city, they are many pickpockets.

It depends on how much you would like to see.. I would say that anything less then a week wouldn't be worth the trip. I would say about 10 nights would be good... That would give you enought time to go to Nice and such if you would like to do that as well .
