Hey, I'm visiting France (Normandie) alone this summer for a month to study at a French Learning Program and I'm totally nervous. I'm mainly concerned about doing something wrong and being labeled another "rude American." I want to fit in as much as possible and offend as little people as possible. I understand to try to speak French when you can (I already speak a little) and not to gawk at the sites or anything...but what else? I've heard a lot about not dressing like an American (tourist) is a good thing--but what does this mean exactly? I shouldn't wear any mini skirts??? What SHOULD I wear? What's in fashion for teens in France? Also, just any advice or suggestions about behavior in general would be so great and anything else I should know-I really want to do this trip right. Thanks guys.

Oh extra note: I'll be staying with a French family as well. Advice? Suggestions?

Is it like the Statue of Liberty where you can go up to see the view? Is there an elevator or stairs or something? Or is it only viewed from the ground?

I am planning a trip to Paris, however I am struggling to find an area to stay in, as I am confused by how far the charles de gaulle airport is from most areas - I was thinking along the lines of the Latin Quarter, if anyone has any better ideas please let me know
Its supposed to be a romantic weekend and I quite like the boutique hotels, however location is the key???

We are going from Charles de Gaulle to a hotel near Parc de Monceau in the 17e Arondissement. It says it's near a metro station. Also, does anyone know anything about the area around Parc de Monceau? Thanks! It's for my honeymoon in May.

I am planning on going to France, at first to see how it is, then to live if like it. On my trip the only things I know of bringing are money, clothes & other commonly personal things any person would bring on a trip, and a book of french translation. What else would I need if anything at all?

Me and my partner are looking to stay in Paris soon and would like to know where the best area to stay is. What neighbourhoods are best?

Looking for good restaurants, lively, busy atmosphere etc - We really want to experience France and the quaint romanticism of it.

Any Hotel recomendations (Luxury/High end) would be much appreciated.

Merci! (lol) ;)

Anyone know of any movies featuring the landscape, people, or culture of Alsace-Lorraine in France? I discovered that my ancestors came to the U.S. from there and I would like to see it on film. I love foreign movies, so I thought this would be a fun way to experience the region instead of reading a history book.
I'm more interested in cinema films than travel videos, but if there are some travel DVDs that focus on Alsace-Lorraine I would check them out also.
BTW, I already found the Wiki description and, yes, I know it's now called Alsace-Moselle. :)
Thanks, merci, and danke!
