I would like to spend approx. 5 days with my family (small kids 3-5 years old) in Marital Alps. I search for a place, reachable by public transport from Nice, where I could stay for the entire period in a hotel or an apartment. It should be a small town or a village in the mountains with some restaurants and mountains hiking walks for 4-5 days. I assume returning to the same accommodation every night.

I was considering St Martin Vesubie, but it does not seem to be easily reachable (I found no info on the web).

I have heard they are anti-American and don't believe that as they have been a valuable alliance for our country in the past.

I am living in Germany (near Frankfurt) and would like to travel to Normandy to see the any WWII memorials and the beaches where the invasion took place. I would appreciate any input people have on where to stay, what to see, what they did while there, and about how long one should set aside to spend there. I plan on traveling by train, will rely on local transport and foot travel while there, and do not speak French. Any thoughts?

My wife really wants to go to the Provence and see the lavender fields in bloom. Unfortunately we can only go the last week of may, and lavender might not yet have bloomed at the time. Does anybody know around what time the lavender start blooming? And could it be that it starts early this year due to very mild winter?

I will be going to Nice in March, and I would like to venture out to some other cities in Provence. Most of them look to be in reasonable driving distance from Nice. I am hesitant to rent a car, so are busses and trains widely available and reliable? I am thinking of doing day trips to cities like Marseilles, Nimes, Aix-en-Provence. Are they expensive?

PARIS PROJECT
Outline of monument in French: Salomon de Brosse

Qui: Queen Marie de Medici
Que: Today the Salomon de Brosse is used for tourism. The palace was used as a royal residence up until the time of the revolution, when it served as a prison for a short time. The palace took up its final incarnation as home of the French Senate in 1804. The gardens later opened to the public. Today the Queen Mother might see a young French family with a stroller and bicycle walking through the park, or Parisians visiting among the chairs lining the flowerbeds and pools.
Quand: The Salom de Brosse began construction in 1610. Baroque style fountain added its final touch in 1624.
Qu: Luxembourg Gardens (translate to French)
Pourquoi: The Salomon de Brosse was built so Queen Marie de Medici could mourn her husband’s death- to turn her negatives into positives.
2 faits: (interesting facts)
1.Find this photo. Her statue is on the left toward the tree line.
The sculpture depicts a woman
