This sport is really cool. When guys from the U.S. come to Europe, they go nuts and watch soccer all the time, and consequently don't see Europe. However, when they're at home they never ever watch soccer. Why's that???

For me, it's gonna be the one asking why Cannavaro tattooed the name "Andrea" on his arm. The threadstarter went on to ask whether he's gay (Andrea is a man's name in Italy), or whether he has a German/ American sweetheart... hahaha.... when actually Andrea is his son's name =X

From now on soccer as you call it, will be known like it is everywhere else on the planet bar Australia, as FOOTBALL. Since it is older, and you use your feet. American football, will now become throwball or sissy ball, as you throw it, and it's for sissy's........

sorted!! any problems speak to the English FA and we'll sue you for using the name football which we invented!

...here in America, or at least where I live, it seems like everyone cares about (american) football(i.e., the homecoming that the whole school spends a week preparing for is for FOOTBALL and everyone goes to the FOOTBALL games, but this is not true for soccer) and not soccer? I mean, no offense to football players, but everyone is wanting everything faster and faster everything right? Well a typical high-school football game that starts at 7 can end as late as 11 or 12, or at least the games our marching band has been to, thats been true. A soccer game lasts an hour. Period. Ok, there might be an extension, but not for like thirty minutes. So,if people want things faster and faster why in the heck are they supporting the sport that can last for four or five times as long rather than soccer? I mean, sure the people on the team care, and sure their friends care(maybe) but the adminenstration sure doesn't. I mean, why do they sell concessions at football games, but not soccer games?

Experts do lip reading and in fact they are in the process of doing that with materazzi right now. Fifa has a rule where if someone discriminates someone else, they get punished and it is being investigated right now.

It is sad that a lot of people all over the world and especially in the US don't understand why Zidane was so offended because it doesn't occur to them that in other cultures certain things are offensive even if it's a very normal thing in the US

It is hard for people in America to understand that in most countries, people don't do as much verbal abuse. When it is done, it is a big deal. Also, in America, people talk **** about people's mothers as a joke all the time but in some cultures, it is the ultimate insult and no one ever goes there. It is worse than killing someone.

I am not saying that Zidane is right for having reacted to the provocation, but verbal abuse using personal things is 10,000 times worse; especially if it's used as part of a strategy to target key players in order to win a game. How much more evil can you get than that.

It was pretty interesting too to see that Materazzi stayed on the ground laying there up until the red card was given after which he stood back up and resumed playing. This is so incredibly typical!
