...here in America, or at least where I live, it seems like everyone cares about (american) football(i.e., the homecoming that the whole school spends a week preparing for is for FOOTBALL and everyone goes to the FOOTBALL games, but this is not true for soccer) and not soccer? I mean, no offense to football players, but everyone is wanting everything faster and faster everything right? Well a typical high-school football game that starts at 7 can end as late as 11 or 12, or at least the games our marching band has been to, thats been true. A soccer game lasts an hour. Period. Ok, there might be an extension, but not for like thirty minutes. So,if people want things faster and faster why in the heck are they supporting the sport that can last for four or five times as long rather than soccer? I mean, sure the people on the team care, and sure their friends care(maybe) but the adminenstration sure doesn't. I mean, why do they sell concessions at football games, but not soccer games?

I mean, the adminenstration at my school puts down soccer a lot, but are full of nothing but praise for the football players. And out junior high girls soccer team wins more games on average than our varsity football team. And we switched coaches a month and half into the season. And, at least the way it is at my school, the only person on the football team that has to think is the coach, but on a soccer team, if you have someone that can't cope with new situations, you could lose the game. Badly. I mean, it almost makes me want to move, how much flack soccer gets around here. I didn't even know that our school had a soccer team until tryouts began. And all the guys think that us soccer girls are just as anti-sport as the make-up slave in our class, because we don't play a "real" sport, just soccer. It almost makes me sick.

Because being a football player is "all american," and it's all american to watch it and support it. Soccer is just not as fun to watch, and it doesn't involve guys in tight pants trying to pummel each other. And whoever says soccer is not a sport is just cocky or bad at it in my opinion. They're just sad because all they can do is stand in one place, be fat, and fall on the guy in front of them and they get praised for it(obviously not all football players do that and I understand it takes skill, but not the kind of skill involved in soccer). In soccer you have to be able to move and be fast. It's not a matter of how big you are that determines how good you are. I understand how tough it would be to play soccer, and how much America over praises football players and the sport, but they're are plenty of people in America who do like soccer and who do watch it. I mean, I think you've got it good compared to curlers. Think of how much crap they get everyday, even though it's supposed to be a pretty tough sport to get good at? If you really love soccer, then just forget about anybody else loving it because it doesn't matter what everybody else thinks. Only what you think.

Look at the World Cup final. The score was tied 1-1 after 90 minutes. That is sooooooooooo boring. Look at basketball, football, and baseball you score a lot easier. Basketball their is no one stopping the ball from going in the goal. Football the only thing stopping you is the other team. Baseball it is harder to score but with home runs and grand slams the score can go up quicker. Soccer their is a guy in the goal trying to stop every shot. Hockey is the same way. With hockey though their is more fighting, but the goal is smaller, so less scoring. To "fix" soccer their needs to be more scoring. Take out the golie all together and add an extra defender, sweeper, or forward. More goals, and the ability to come back a lot easier would make soccer more a spectator sport. I don't know about you but watching a game where niether team scores after an hour of playing is not very exciting.

I agree with you. 4 out of my 7 kids play soccer and we all LOVE it. I had one of my kids play football last year and I have to tell you, it was awful. The mentality of the players, coaches and the parents was completely different than in soccer. Don't get me wrong, I love football...but honestly, I am very surprised soccer isn't more popular in the US. It is a much better sport than football.

because American football is junk . its just like wrestling its like watching many foolish muscle men running, fighting and literally punching an kicking each other for the foolish oval shaped ball. i thought of giving each one of them a ball and everyone would be HAPPY.
