OK, I asked this 2 days ago and 100% of people said he does with a few questioning my sanity. I can only assume most people that answered are blinded by his celebrity and are not too knowledgeable about football. This tournament is hard enough to win without having a right sided midfielder whos only contribution is taking (admittedly excellent) free kicks and corners. Just look at the stats for how much work Gerrard has to do to try and cover for Beckham. The serious papers in england are asking the question now and the answer is the same throughout the articles, england were transformed on thursday when a young fit and hungry player was put in beckhams position. The midfield is a serious problem as Lampard and Gerrard cannot seem to play together (too similar i think) and the opposition has a free run at the right back because Beckham is wide open. Beckham should be dropped and Carrick brought in as a holding player behind Gerrard.
