Well, in most groups there are 2 good teams and 2 so-so teams. In most cases the 2 good teams will beat the 2 not-so-good teams and then they'll draw against each other and they'll both qualify 4 the next round. In the group of death there are 3 good teams, but only 2 can qualify. So each team will have to play really well and try and beat each other. Most people say that Group C was the group of death.

A group that, by the draw, puts an uneven amount of talent in one group, such that a country that might have a shot at the second round where they in another group is probably going to be eliminated.

Groups C & E looked that way coming into the Cup, but so far neither has played that way. But, you still have to ask if the Serbians might have had a better chance in another group.

The best example of a Group of Death was in 1994, when Mexico, Italy, Ireland, and Norway were drawn to the same group. All four countries finished 1-1-1, all even on goal differential, with Mexico, Italy, and Ireland advancing on goals scored.

For example if you belong to a group which is very strong and your supporters are not very tolerant, they call that the group of death.
why?

cos you are probably out fo the world cup , not tolerated by the fans and the players can be hurt or even killed by the fans.

this term was adopted when colombia lost in the world cup and one of their players got killed by one of their supporters for losing.

so all teams having dodgy backgrounds (as in supporters and countries expectations) with a difficult group are in group of deaths as they are in real danger.

It means that some if not all teams in that group are so good and competitive such that you cant predict who will qualify for the next round.
