I know that miami was the defending champion, and that the game was televised, that flutie was in the heisman trophy running, and that later that season boston college would go on to win the cotton bowl.
But as far as that particular game, why is it thought of as so momentus a game aside from that spectacular play? Did it send boston college to a bowl game? Was a win in that game vital for any particular reason? Maybe coming in first in their division was on the line? anyone know?
