For all the talk about parity in college basketball, this year's NCAA tournament seems to be all about the top seeds. Despite superlative efforts from most of the underdogs in the Sweet Sixteen, no team seeded lower than third in its region advanced.

However, my issue is with the fact that all of the number one seeds trailed in their third round games, two of them (North Carolina and Ohio State) by at least 16 points and two of them (Kansas and Florida) to mid-major conference teams, but each seemed to come alive at the end of its game and pull away for a victory.

My question is this: are these efforts (sloppy play at the beginning of games and surges at the end) the result of simple laziness on the part of supremely gifted teams who loaf for the first twenty minutes because they know they have the firepower to make a run, or are they the result of genuine parity between the top seeds and their opponents?

Kobe Bryant is coming off 4 straight 50 + games (65, 50, 60, and 50). He is just giving a sneak peek of what he is going to do against the Suns, Spurs, Mavericks or whoever he plays in the playoffs. If anyone thinks those defenses will stop him. HAHA. psh give me a break Kobe has scored 62 points in three quarters against a Dallas Maverick team. Kobe will do this again in the playoffs and he will win. I guarandamntee it. THE BEST IS YET TO COME.. JUST BE READY !

i would go with the kandi man there were like five good...well actually anyone else would have been better than him,, Michael Olowokandi, Pacific (Cal.) L.A. Clippers
2. Mike Bibby, Arizona Vancouver
3. Raef LaFrentz, Kansas Denver
4. Antawn Jamison, North Carolina Toronto (traded to Golden State)
5. Vince Carter, North Carolina Golden State (traded to Toronto)
6. Robert Traylor, Michigan Dallas (traded to Milwaukee)
7. Jason Williams, Florida Sacramento
8. Larry Hughes, St. Louis Philadelphia
9. Dirk Nowitzki, DJK Wurzburg (Germany) Milwaukee (traded to Dallas)
10. Paul Pierce, Kansas Boston
11. Bonzi Wells, Ball State Detroit
12. Michael Doleac, Utah Orlando
13. Keon Clark, UNLV Orlando (from Washington)

kwame brown although his entire draft class was pretty weak with the best player of the lottery being arguably pau gasol...which in joe smiths lottery kevin garnett and jerry stackhouse should have been top picks but both of these guys never really lived up to the hype of a number 1 overall pick in a draft...

for math, for some odd reason, we were all assigned college basketball teams, and if our team wins, we get 68 points of extracredit. if our team loses, we have to fill out a slip
game one: usc vs. ????? score?????????????
game two usc vs.????????score????????????

I am not even a USC fan, since I am from NorCal, I actually hate USC, but it seemed pretty obvious to me that they called those two falls just to get Taj Gibson the bench and give UNC a chance to make a run.

Then they kept blowing it with calls like letting UNC get away with the obvious goaltending call.

Do you think the refs were paid off? I notice that UNC even covered the spread. Did Vegas get to the officials?

What's up with Sarunas Jaskevicius??? How come he hasn't gotten any playing time... especially since BD and J-Rich came back? I know Nellie wasn't too pleased with how he tried to show his skills (or lack there of) soon after the trade when he would come out from the bench to relieve BD, but its been awhile since then so why is still warming up the bench during every game? Maybe I missed something... is he injured or something? Because I almost feel sorry for the poor guy...
