I was watching the movie The Queen, in the begining it showed Tony Blair had to ask the Queen if he could be the Prime Minister. 1st of all why the hell does the Prime Minister have to ask the Queen permission if the people elected him? It should be none of her afair. 2nd of all does she have any political power over the country. Or is she a big celebrity. What does she do and the whole royal family do? It seems to me that you give them lots of tax money to go on vacations and live in mansions. Get back to me on this.
thanks -
An American

Why did England throw those poor Germans out of the UK? Did you just use them untill you found out how to make great beer? When was the Union dissolved? By Whom? Wouldn"t that make the Queen the Ruler of Germany[by default]? Am I confused?

I just saw the Bangladesh concert he organized in 1971. Awesome effort. First of its kind. To the best of my knoledge, he was never bestowed the honor. BTW, John and Paul never showed for the concert. Just Bob Dylan, Ringo, and a bunch of top rate session musicians.

an 'engagement' can be as little as nodding to a diplomat, This is still counted as an engagment, also i read the queen has enjoyed over three months holiday a year, all her life, and in the winter, visits are always arranged to nice warm countries.

It's not as though any of them are shining examples of piety in their own religion. After all, Prince Charles was messing with Camilla for years while he was still married, and there are any number of scandals within the family. I would think marrying a Catholic would be the least of their worries....
