When there is a product, like toffee, for example (!!) and the purveyor claims it is "By Appointment To Her Majesty The Queen" what ever does it mean?

What sort of things does she order?
I am sorry, I am not laughing, but I (a poor, bedraggled American with no one
who wears tons of real diamonds and pearls to look at!) ... I find it very amusing.... and quite frankly, I want some, too, whatever it is...!

P.S. I have seen some snippy little answers here from people who have been taught that it is alright to be snippy.... but, I don't want any answers like that, please.... It is Sunday today, and I had a nasty Saturday so please be kind.

... enormous pearl necklaces, beautiful high-necked lace blouses .... and her hair upswept? I just can't remember who she was and seaches have led me down blind alleys. I think she lived in the early part of the 20th century, but I am not sure.

Thank you!
Love & Peace.

She was the favourite daughter of King Edward III, and we have very little information about her today... She was supposed to get married with a Castilian prince, but sadly the Plague reached Europe and surprised her during her travel. Joan died in Bayonne in September 2nd 1348, never reaching Castile and leaving her family in sorrow and fear... Let's suppose we could take her from September 1st and bring her to modern England!!! We would cure her of the Plague (antibiotics) and then give her a new family to live with as a normal girl... I know this is mad, but... Do you think she would like it? Would she hang out with other teenagers? Would she like technology or maybe she would be afraid, thinking everything is black magic? Would she miss the 14th century and her status as a Princess? What would happen with Joan of England in 2007 ???

Just watching an old episode of "the grimleys" on sky. Its set in the 70's, and Noddy Holder did the theme tune, and appears in it (sort of only cameo, minor part) but later, the episode now, he is in a pivotal, though subtle, philosophical role.
He has never gone all hollywood, and is an embodyment of the west midlands humour, common touch, and love of fellow man.
Considering every Christmas for nearly 30 years, we have listenend to one of slade's songs, (or Roy Wood, also of the west midlands) When, is this genuinly "genuine" stalwart of british culture, going to be recognised? (he never felt the need to hang babies off balconies).
(i see the quest. automatically apperars in "royalty" ! hey, why not!)
