Lisieux is a commune of the Calvados département, in the Basse-Normandie région, in France.

The name comes from the Gallic people who lived in the area, the Lexoviis. Hence, it is common to call those who are born in this region the Lexoviens. It was also known as Noviomagus or Noviomagus Lexoviorum in ancient times.
