The FDA, and the USDA have a standard for the amount of blood allowed in milk. Is there blood in your milk? Yes. All non-organic milk available from all major dairies in the US contain blood. How does the blood get in the milk? The dairies shoot the cows full of RBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone), which makes the cows produce milk, even though they are not pregnant or nursing. The cows produce so much milk, because of the hormones that they must be milked five to ten times daily, as opposed to the healthy amount of twice daily. The over milking makes the teats sore, raw and bloody. The blood is extracted with the milk, so it is impossible to separate out. I used to work for a commercial dairy, and have visited hundreds nation wide. This happens in every dairy in America that is non-organic. How do they make it white? They bleach the milk to alleviate the pink colore the blood gives it. So what percentage of your milk is blood? Up to 20%. Most dairies being on the high end at 19%.

Ok, my friends and I met some guys whose friend had just been shot in the face...and a week (or two) later, we went to the funeral...We didn't know the guy much...but the day before the funeral, we had been talking abouts concerts...and how they sell shirts and patches and stuff...and then when we were at the funeral...we saw all these people wearing shirts with the guys name on it...and I was like, "I wonder if they sell patches..." and we all started laughing...but then we started feeling bad...and so we tried stopping our laughter...but we couldn't...was that a wrong comment for me to make?

...(good or bad, doesn't matter)... what would that ONE thing be?

Would you do something nice for a shut-in neighbor? Get revenge for something a bad neighbor did to you or your property?

What would you do?

Up until recently I have truly believed that if the U.S. withdrew from Iraq at this time that it would leave the country to ruin...for the insurgents to continue to fight over. That it might be irresponsible on our part to leave now. But in the last few days I have started leaning in a somewhat different direction.
If we pull our troops from Iraq....wouldn't it force the Iraqi people/government to be more responsible for the consequences of their country? Shouldn't we, as a democratic nation, step back and let the "cookies crumble as they may"? Will a nation that has been under oppresive rule for this long become codependent on us and therefore helpless or if given the chance to fight alone could rise up and create a democratic government?

After I waved my way through all the cigarette smoke and into the meeting room, and took a seat. Everyone started saying their name and that said, "and I am an alcoholic". I labeled myself an alcoholic as well. Suddenly, in the coroner of the room, I seen the "burning bush" that is mentioned amongst AAers. Is that a spiritual awakening? Or is it just the thorazine I forgot to take? Can god and Jesus really save me now! Oh Jesus, please save me! Save me now and take me HOME!

So there are three pretty common European criticisms of Americans:

1. Americans only speak English (or, at best, have minimal foreign language abilities.)
2. Americans invaded Iraq.
3. Americans didn't sign the Kyoto Accord.

While this may be fair criticism, I wonder why Americans are near constantly confronted with these facts. But Aussies, on the other hand, have similar charateristics and are far less criticized. What's up with that? (I experienced this while traveling with some Aussies in Europe.)

And sorry if I pigeonhole anyone--I am sure there are many liguistically brilliant Aussies and Americans!

Thanks for your help...

Fire

Bodies were thrashing and burning;
Against the outcome of actions .
Their questions were still yearning;
They hunted around for his presence;
In seconds, he comes crashing down.

Their faith forces him to relate.
He's leaving the last hill by the seventh gate; He's making his
getaway;
That need to break away haunts him;
As people gather in the town centre.

He remembers how they taunt him;
The latest round of words could hit him again;
This martyrdom game demands too much from him;
The papers will insist he either disappeared,
Or else, he just left on a whim.

He treasures the pain against pleasure; A burial beside white candles
holds him down.
Slowly the sweet, deathly leisure enters.
Roses bleed on the fingertips of a blade; Cut goes a little deeper.

Damaged copper canyons look steeper;
On the perfection of the clearest day.
Cut as sharp as crystal and diamond lasers; The fatal longing finds him
now; He follows dutifully.
