Holidays - December 2007

Seen them in some shops in England, and no doubt they are also on sale else where, but why?

(ok, the decorations hang a bit more freely, but wtf are they all about)

Okay so Christmas is coming and there are a few things I need to save money for.
Christmas Presents= $125
Concert=$59
After Christmas shopping=$150

So I need to get $334 and I need it all By December 21st.
Yes, I know this is close.
So I need some ideas to get some money pretty fast.
I've tried so many things; babysitting, handing out flyers for Odd Jobs
Also, don't say anything about "do jobs for your parents for money" because they have none either.

BTW, I'm only 13.

where in the bible does it say december 25th? wouldnt it make more sense that he was born in october or early march? i remember someone telling me the passage about when he was born pastures wer ein the field. wouldnt egypt be freezing at night in a barn during winter?

How did we start giving gifts for Christmas? I know the wise men brought gifts and Jesus' birth is a gift but how did we go from that to giving everyone we know presents? It seems like commercialism left religous significance behind along time ago.

Why do people get so hung up on what they are getting/giving for Christmas? People ought to cherish the friends and family around them instead of making presents the central point of the Christmas season.

She said she is too busy. She said, "please, please don't come home for Christmas" after I said "I'll be home for Christmas." What would you do? Should I be a little sad? Should I be angry? Or is this a little funny because my family is so abnormal? And how meaningful are the holidays really? Is it just like any other day for some, plus for how many do you think it is just another day? In my family, there is Mom and Grandma, they live together. I am in California and Mom is in Michigan. I do not have much communication with Dad. I didn't see Mom last Christmas either, nor for Thanksgivings. I last went back in July. Thanks.

I seriously do not know what to get him. Almost every year I get him one of those sports video games. They cost about $40 for the ones that he likes. This year I can only spend about $20 per grandchild (I have 12).

He likes sports and he is a very sweet kid who will be grateful for anything that I give him. I just want to make sure he gets something he really wants. Is $20 acceptable these days?

My mom has been dating her boyfriend for about 12 yrs now. Last year he started studying to be a jehovahs witness. Now he doesn't want to celebrate holidays. He's not a jehovahs witness yet but is trying to be one.

Is it wrong for him to make us not put up a christmas tree? We think so but he's saying he's comprimising with us.

And he's saying if we love holidays and stuff so much he doesn't want to be here so hell leave.

Is it wrong for him to do that?
Pleasse give me some advice or suggestions etc.
