It's a tough call because personally I would prefer a romantic gift, something extravagant that I wouldn't get myself. But, if she needs those studio monitors and can't afford to buy them herself, I'm sure she would really appreciate them as a gift.

If it is something you know she needs, I think it would be an excellent gift. It shows you are interested in what she is studying and you support her. Romantic is always nice, but if you know she needs something and would like to have it,I would say go for that. She will be very happy that you thought of it.

You know, I do BELIEVE that she would consider it very ROMANTIC as well if you got her the Studio Speakers for her Christmas Gift -- it is useful .. it is considering HER interests/Talents/Needs ... and very THOUGHTFUL Too!
Now ... all you need to do is to find a way to make her a nice Christmas Dinner ... a bit of time alone, and maybe a nice, romantic card!

My rule is for xmas and birthdays, you get the good gifts...like stuff that you know they really want, and for Valentine's Day and Anniversaries, then you go the sentimental route.
So if you know she needs studio monitor that that seems like a great gift.

In the case of your gf I can't say for sure... but I love romantic gifts. She might really be thrilled to get the monitors! You know her better than any of us here. Good luck!

As a former music student, I can attest that if these are something she really needs, she will be ecstatic to receive them!
You could also get her a box of candy for the romance element!

I always appreciate romance over function. I need a coffee maker but can but that any time. But romantic items are usually not on my must have list but I really like them.

try to mix it together, get her the speakers but give it to her romanticly.
Try setting the mood with candles, music, wine. then blind fold her. tell her you have something that she really really wants/needs. Tease her abit, then unblind fold her. "ta-da"
either she will think you are a creep because she was expecting the diamond ring, or she will think you are the sweetest guy ever.

ever heard the saying...."its the thought that counts"......I would rather something romantic, but usually get practical.....and to tell the truth, the presents that I remember my husband giving me are the ones that wernt so useful, but more romantic. hope that helps
