I was a bit confused about the exact difference between bullying and being racist until a guy explained it on BBC one this morning (show where they read the newspapers).

He said being racist is where you stop talking about the person as an individual and start saying 'they'. For instance when Jade on Big Brother said 'they' all eat with their fingers don't they, its disgusting?'.

It got me thinking if Jade had said about Shipla - 'SHE eats with her fingers, its disguisting', that wouldn't be racist according to above definition as its referring to Shipla as an individual.

I can't see how the above 'they' versus 'individual' definition could fully work though because if somebody said 'SHE is black' then its still referring to the person as an individual but that would definitely be racist! Also 'they' comments are used all the time when skin colour is not an issue, for instance saying bad things about gypsys as a group.

someone answered that Martin Luther got his bible from God in one of my questions concerning where did Martin Luther got his Bible from. how's that possible? how did Martin Luther exactly got it straight from God?

i know this question might sound silly, but i just have to ask because that answer really sounded so silly to me as well. it's so surprising that someone will actually answer like that. lol!

Creation of the Heaven and Earth
Which one was created first? As you will see in the verses below, Allah at one time says that Earth was created first and another time he says that the Heaven was created first.

Quran 2: 29 It is He who hath created for you all things that are on Earth; THEN He turned to the Heaven and made them into seven firmaments (Skies)….

Quran 79: 27 - 30 Are you the harder to create, or is the heaven that He built? He raised the height thereof and ordered it; and He has made dark the night thereof, and He brought forth the morning thereof. And after that, He spread (flattened) the earth

Now, does it match modern science? Do you believe that, Earth was created first, after that, God created Heaven? Modern science tells us that? Or How come SEVEN firmaments (layers)? Modern science tells us that, actually there is no such thing Sky is no “roof” over us. It is only a space with no known boundary at all. These verses simply reinforce the ancient idea of ROOF over us which is called SKY, is it not so? How funny!

Sun-set and Sun-rise
Koran teaches us that the Sun sets in a muddy spring:

Quran 18: 86 Till, when he (the traveller Zul-qarnain) reached the setting-place of the Sun, he found it going down into a muddy spring…

Quran 18: 90 Till, when he reached the rising-place of the Sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had appointed no shelter from it.

Serious scientific errors here! Firstly, it is scientifically accepted fact that, the Sun never go down in a muddy spring. Secondly, this seems to presuppose a FLAT Earth, otherwise how can there be an extreme point in the West or in the East? A sunrise there would be basically just the same as at any other place on this earth, at land or sea. It would still look as if it is setting “far away”. It does say, that he reached THE PLACE where the Sun sets and in his second Journey the place where it rises.

Since souls do not exist then what really happens when you get reincarnated? Is there some floating DNA of ours out there or what? because since you can get reincarnated hundreds of times, then there must be SOMETHING of ours somewhere, a spirit or something right? I've read a lot about this, but i just can't really find an answer. Don't tell me what you think, tell me what Buddhism teaches, not Hinduism, christianity or any others. I hope you know what I'm trying to say.

I
Error # 1

Was Enoch a member of the sixth generation after Adam (as indicated in Genesis 5 and Luke 3) or of “the seventh after Adam” as it states in the epistle of Jude?

Error #2

Did the Last Supper take place on the evening of Passover (Matthew 26:17-20; Mark 14:12-17; Luke 22:7-14), with the crucifixion occuring the next day and therefore “not on the feast day” (Matthew 26:5; Mark 14:2), or did it take place on the evening before Passover as John reports, so the crucifixion took place on the day of Passover -- that is, on the feast day (compare John 13:1-2; 18:39; 19:14, 31, 42)?

Error #3

Why does Matthew say that Jesus came to live in Nazareth “that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene” (Matthew 3:23)? There is no such prophecy anywhere in the Old Testament.

Error #4.

Is God all-knowing (I John 3:20) or does he sometimes have to find out things (Genesis 18:20-22)?

Error #5

Was the potter’s field purchased by Judas before his death (Acts 1:15-19) or by the priests after his death (Matthew 27:3-10)?

alleged uses: there are reducing learning time and sleeping needs (theta waves are thought to improve learning, since children, who have stronger theta waves, and remain in this state for a longer period of time than adults, usually learn faster than adults; and some people find that half an hour in the theta state can reduce sleeping needs up to four hours; however, this is supposed to happen with any way to get into theta state, e.g. meditation); some use them for lucid dreaming and even for achieving out-of-body experiences, astral projection, telepathy and psychokinesis. However, most people believe that these phenomena (except lucid dreams, which are acknowledged even by mainstream science) do not exist, let alone that they can be achieved by entraining the brain to a specific frequency.
Binaural beats have also been used experimentally for the treatment of addictions, and for the recovery of repressed memories, but as with other techniques this can lead to false memories.

I was recently reading a book called 'Narrative of my captivity among the Sioux Indians', by one Fanny Kelly, published during the 1860s. Basically, I was wondering how accurate she was, and was it really as horrible as people made it seem, or was it just the predjudice of the time, personal bigotry and/or a tendency to exxagerate. I know there is a good chance I'm going to unintentionally offend someone with this question, so please allow me to apologize in advance, and state that I am not attempting to insult or denigrate anyone whatsoever. I just wanted to know if anyone had any information, opinions, links, or or articles relating to said question. Thank you.

My scout troop is researching Native Americans, including Hawaiians and Alaskan natives. The only reservation information I can find is on the lower 48 states. Does anybody know if there are reserves on either Alaska or Hawaii (or both)? If there are, where are they?

Thanks for helping!
