I cannot understand the thinking of our social lobby groups.
For every one woman that has a violence committed against her..... 3 men do.
Men suffer from violent assult 3 times more than women do, yet no one seems to give a toss about them.
So if I am assaulted, does that make it less of a crime because I hail from the same demographic as my assailant?

It's just that I've come across some horrible people. It doesn't make sense to me why people act certain ways. It all started when I was working at a grocery store a few years back and some middle aged cranky woman started screaming at me and made me cry. Why do you think people are like this? I am such a nice person and smile at everyone. Why would someone purposely try to hurt another human being? Why do people spread their misery? Just looking for opinions.

A majority of African-Americans are still economically disadvantaged. Crime rates are high amongst blacks AND so is teen pregnancy.

Im looking for a word that starts with a P.

I want to know the word that starts with a P that means the philosophy of believing that there is no god or devil, that there is no after life, and that the soul dies with you when you die since it's only an idea like other material things. It was a philosophy used in ancient Greece maybe in the Hellenistic era, it might have come from the Roman Empire.... (correct me if im wrong) Can you guess the word???

10 points if you can.

This seems to be the dominant terminology today.
It replaces the old "First world"/"Third World" terminology, which now seems to be polictically correct.

But I wonder if "developed" and "developing" are really the correct words. "Developed" implies that those countries have already developed and that they have no more developing to do, when in reality all societies and countries are constantly in flux and changing and developing in some way or another.

Developing can also be something of a misnomer, since many of the countries that fall in this category, may not actually be doing much "developing", at least in the Western sense of the word (i.e. "economic development")

And I honestly am not convinced that economic development is always the best course for a country. It is not sustainable. We can't keep increasing production and consumption with the limited resources on this earth.

So if developing/developed doesn't work, what do you think is a better way to describe the world?

I was thinking earlier about my past... I took LSD one time over 5 years ago.. just once. I did it with my 2 friends at the time. Thay had done it 2 time before, it was my first. We all took 2 hits each. Since I had never done any other illegal drug before, I didnt know what to expect. While I definately did feel the effects and you could define my behavior as crazy, I always knew that I was tripping and that any paranoid thought in my head was from the LSD and nothing more. I was sitting there w/ my friends and they were going nuts. I had to tell them that they were only tripping and all the things that they thought or saw were not real and that there was nothing to worry about. So even though it was my first time, I ended up playing babysitter. Being the first time I took any psychotropic drug of any sort, and the amount I took, which was considered strong, why wasnt I freaking out like my friends? Just curious....

1)In your words, what is shyness?
2) Would you consider yourself a shy person? If yes, what occasions?
3) Is it a quality? A flaw? Or both?
4) Do you think that shyness can help people be patient and good listeners in some cases?
5) What would you say to someone who wanted to overcome their shyness?
6)Why do you think people are shy?
7)Anything else you wanna add?
