It's just that I've come across some horrible people. It doesn't make sense to me why people act certain ways. It all started when I was working at a grocery store a few years back and some middle aged cranky woman started screaming at me and made me cry. Why do you think people are like this? I am such a nice person and smile at everyone. Why would someone purposely try to hurt another human being? Why do people spread their misery? Just looking for opinions.

Life is what you make it .. if you wake up crotchety every morning, you are going to have a bad day ... if you wake up happy, you will enjoy your day and be productive.

Life is too short .. ENJOY !

Good question. Perhaps that lady was just having a bad day. Maybe too many things had gone wrong in her life and she just snapped on that particular day at that particular time. I believe the root cause of all our problems is us doing things we don't want to do. I've read an excellent quote somewhere, though I can't remember what exactly it went like. But the juice was something like this: If you want to be happy in life, you have to do something you have a passion for, that's rewarding and that you're good at. It's finding all these things in one activity that's the tough part. Most people don't even know what they want. Hence all the misery. I use to work in a bingo hall and there was this lady who would come in and she had the worst disposition of anyone I had ever known. She complained about everything and seemed to look down her nose at everyone. I hated waiting on her. Then one night she came in and she was wearing a really pretty pink blouse that just made her skin glow and I told her how pretty she looked. All of a sudden she got the sweetest look on her face and thanked me. From then on she smiled every time I looked at her.
I think that she thought everyone was judging her and had her guard up in self defense. It just goes to show what a kind word will do sometimes. It might even change someones life for the better.

Well, that woman was probally crazy. That's the question that I ask all the time. Why do people murder people? Why do people steal things? Why do people hurt women and children? There's obviously something wrong with them. Like that dude, the nightstalker. why did he do that? It's not like they didnt have a choice. You always always have a choice to do right and wrong and some people just dont understand that. There's no reason why Osama hated us. Why he killed so many people. There's no reason why Hitler killed the Jewish people. Or why he hated them. It's just really sad how people try and justify things like murder. Like that woman who killed her 3 children because her other child died. There's no answer.

I am with you in your feelings. I put my best foot forward for everyone God puts in my path. It's not easy but it helps to realize that a lot of people come from very, very disfunctional families and/or they have experienced something so incredibly traumatic that you and I can't even imagine even facing another day with the horrific memory of it in our heads.
So, compassion and respect for where people come from is the key to making someones horrible world a better place.
I live in a tourist town with a lot of homeless people and so I see all walks of life. I walk downtown everyday and I am challenged in my occasional encounters with the "misfits" but I do my best, and all in the name of love.

Nobody "needs" to live their life in misery. But some people have no choice because no one will allow them to succeed in life.

some ppl live in misery because that is all they know and some do it cuz they are trying to protect themselves from getting hurt. you should smile and be pleasant to those ppl more, they need it!

we all can share what we have... and people who share their misery tell something of what they have and the abundance of it... so don't cry, instead, pity those who are spreading misery to others.
