Yes and no at the same time.

Yes the USA imports far more than it exports, hence the trade deficit.

But the bulk of the imports originate from USA owned companies in other countries, as an example the thousands of factories in the border with Mexico, the Ti's oriented companies in India etc.

This causes that the upper class in the USA still profits from those commodities, commodities produced at low wedges.

The backslash of this situation is that all those works are generated in other countries, increasing the gap between rich and poor in the USA.
