Both. To have the physical and emotional feelings and chemical responses you have during danger and the flee mechanism is all instinct. Not running in front of a moving car is learned. Humans rely on both learned and instinctual behavior.
Don't you learn manners and how to behave for example? lol We learn many many behaviors in society and at home.

OK Alex i will tell ya: when the human camed on earth he found shelter of cold in the caves...when he was starving he started to eat the animal meat..when they felt attracted they had sex....in this parts was his instinct... but they did invented fire when they've saw that the sticks were getting warmer....and they improved they're weapons..they've consumed fried meat when they saw that it was better...you see as any creature the human had an instinct at the start then he learned.. in present the human has an dual behavior based in both sides: instinct and learned!

Your two options are not mutually exclusive - it's not either/or but both. More human behavior is learned due mainly to culture and the seed of culture - language. However, we certainly have instincts as well.

i believe that the core of human behavior is instinct, and the outer shell is learned. The core elements of a person are the things that can not be changed, or the things that when they are altered, cause the person to be miserable. Other things are learned as a self defense mechanism.

Human Behaviour is definitely "LEARNED"
For eg as babies we might try to touch fire (candles) but once we feel the heat around it, we quicly retreat our hand and LEARN the fact that candles are hot and can burn us.
Similarly in terms of relationships, once if we experience certain kind of nature in people, we learn how to deal with them in the future.
Instinct is what we can also call sixth sense. Only sometimes we get a bad feeling about something tht prevents us from doing it. Otherwise, its pure LEARNED BEHAVIOUR.

Ive wondered about males and females. Are behaviors different because of hormones, nature etc or because of learning and culture. If you put a boy in a dress and treated him like a girl would he grow up acting like a girl or would he always act like a boy?

Both. It varies by environment as we adjust to customs and habits of those around us.
