I have noticed that so many people really are predjudiced against people with mental illness....I've noticed how people assume those with illnesses like schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder are not very intelligent, and 'talk down' to mentally ill people, or use mental-health staff as 'go-betweens' rather than talking directly to the person! I am a person with schizoaffective disorder, and I'm far from stupid...it just takes me a few seconds to respond, because I think before I say anything. And then there are people who tease or mock someone with a mental illness because they act 'different' or have tics because of medication side effects..Most people with mental illness are harmless and will not cause trouble if they're stable on meds.
Just because someone has a mental illness is not a real reason to disrespect or avoid them. I'm just a person who happens to have a psychiatric disorder. But that's not all I am.

It's often mentioned that women dissaprove of men holding doors open for them, it's also mentioned that dissabled people see it as an insult as they are capable of doing it without help.

Any thoughts on this? It's a pretty straightforward polite thing to do and personally I think people in general need a bit more consideration of others.

I have a beautiful, faithful 30-something year old wife. We are both white. Recently at a wedding, I was having a temporary knee problem so i agreed to allow my wife to dance with anyone she wished at the reception. I'm not the jeolous type. Later, she came to me and whispered, "You're gonna get lucky tonight, mister." She explained that a handsome black guy had pressed against her while dancing and, let's just say she was impressed. He told her, "I'm so embarressed that I'm rock hard. Please don't walk away and allow everyone to see", so she kept dancing, obviously turned on. She was honest. So I wouldn't get upset, she stayed close to me the rest of the night. We had amazing sex that night. A week later, she asked me if she could have a black stripper for her birthday. She said that she just realized at the wedding what a turn on seeing a large black dick would be. She said that she only wanted this one fantasy and would never ask for another. Should I get her a stripper?

My mom is afraid of every animal except for cats, she thinks the government is watching us through the television and the computer. I'm 18 and she's always been like this but with all the terrorist attacks and stuff its worse. She's also afraid of people who aren't american or who don't look american, she's also afraid of foreign food. Anyways I guess the worst part is her being afraid of people who arent american, its really embarassing in public when she says something like "that guy/girl looks like a terrorists. On top of that she's a homophobe and if she sees gay people like holding hands or something she goes nuts. Should just build my mom a rock and put her under it?

I'm 16yrs old and have a lot of time to explor what I want to be. My hearts desire is to become a social worker. So I was wondering if there is a volunteer job I can do where it opens my eyes to what social work is like. I would really appreciate and help. Thanks.

What would you do if a girl (between 5 and 14 or so) told you that she was being sexually molested at home, (raped) and she needed help.

The catch is that you know the perpetrator and are really good friends with him.

What would you do?
