What would you do if a girl (between 5 and 14 or so) told you that she was being sexually molested at home, (raped) and she needed help.
The catch is that you know the perpetrator and are really good friends with him.
What would you do?

What if you grew up with this guy and you love him like your brother? What if it WAS your brother? Or your father or your uncle? ANYONE you are extremely close to.
Would you honestly be so quick to call the police?
What if it was your husband of 15 years, and your daughter goes to you (mom) and says this, but you really love your husband? More inclined to believe the daughter or call her a liar and keep things the way they are?

If a girl between five and fourteen approached you with this, YOU are morally obligated to get help for her otherwise the next time it happens YOU will be the one raping her. She came to you, do what you have to do and be proud to put a child molester away.
You need to go outside of her house, do not approach her mom and if you can't go to the police call Social Services, they will take it off your hands.
It will feel so good to do the right thing. Don't wait, do it now.

I don't think you have any choice but to report what you know to the authorities. If you don't and what she is telling you is true, you will be responsible for her being molested in the future. If its not true, at least you did the right thing even though it might ruin a friendship. A little girl that age is most probably not lying about it, so I think you have to make a decision very soon!

You could also talk to the girls parents if you know them, and you probably should talk to your parents as well.
Re-evaluate your friendship with this person. Think back on who they are. They may or may not seem capable of such a thing...but if you distance yourself emotionally, you may see clues one way or another.
BOTTOM LINE: The girl's safety comes first...talk to an adult, or if you need to, the police.
If none of those options suit you, confront him? If you are really good friends with him, you may catch him off guard. I would do this in a public place by the way.

Being that this could psychologically ruin the child, I would contact the police and child protective services ASAP.
As for being friends with the perp, I think if you are a friend then you would want your friend to be helped. Then afterwards.. reevaluate your friendship.

If this girl has confided in you enough to tell you then she is crying for help. You need to call the authorities. If you don't he will continue to harm her and who knows how many more. Do your part and stop this person. Please!

I would believe the girl before I would believe the guy, no questions asked, no matter who it was.
