Hi,

I am confused a bit on how to start this one:

Two 3.0 g spheres are suspended from the ceiling on a 1.0m-long rope with each sphere being on a different rope. The two ropes are suspended from the same point on the ceiling. The spheres repel each other after being equally charged. When the spheres repel each other, the rope they are attached on forms a 20 degree angle with the y-axis in each case. So there is a total of 40 degrees apart between the spheres. What is the charge of the spheres?

I am assuming I have to use F = (kq)/r^2 but I am a bit confused as to where to go from there. Any ideas?

Thanks

If x is inversely related to y, then that means that if x increases, y decreases? It means that x=z*1/y, right? Or is it more accurate to say that that's a negative relationship?

I'm trying to tell whether mass is inversely related to acceleration in the formula a=f/m

I've heard or read somewhere that if you take a glass/cup, like for drinking from, and put the open end up against a window or door and put your ear against the bottom of the cup, you can hear conversations really clearly that are taking place on the other side of the window.

When you thermally excite an electron to a higher energy level, it quicky comes back to its ground state by realeasing its energy in the form of a photon(s).

We all, I assume, accept this fact. But does it make sense? How does the electron do that? I thought that the electron was an indivisible particle without any volume. Then how can it emit a photon?

Does light(photons) have 0 mass or infinite?(b/c it its mass would be zero, it would take no energy to slow it down, meaning, it wouldn't be traveling, unless it has infinite mass which means that it can't be slowed down even a bit but that contradicts the theory that it does have 0 mass)

Can someone provide a simple and convincing reason why mass dosen''t always add when two system combine but momentum and energy always does?

Energies and momentum add because of conservation laws but mass is conserved as well isn't it?

Or is it the case that we are dealing with invariant mass hence is special? This sounds a bit mystical.

I read somewhere that for something near a black hole time slows down. What could cause this? and why is it that time slows down near to huge gravity fields, and time speeds up for an object travelling close to the speed of light?

In many answers, I see you are you are assuming that the plane is not flying, or cannot fly. Cannot take off, Or that the box is too small etc. I will clarify some more.

How about this.... The weightless box is full of air, is the size of texas, has weather etc, and could be lifted by the airplane if the airplane were flying outside of the box...

A 5.00 g bullet is fired horizontally into a 2.00 kg wooden block resting on a horizontal surface. The coefficient of kinetic friction between block and surface is 0.20. The bullet remains embedded in the block, which is observed to slide 0.40 m along the surface before stopping.

What is the initial speed of the bullet?

I don't know how the coefficient of kinetic energy comes to play here... can anyone help please? Thanks in advance.

Please Refer to Previous Additional details,

Now keep in mind that a plane does not have to push air downward to produce an upward force, that is the nature of lift.
