ok, how many have seen the bourne ultimatum? at the end, matt damon jumps off a "10 story building" into the river, and swims away with no injury.

of course this is the movie, but in the spirit of having some free time on my hands (and a good mythbusters idea), would someone really swim away, or even live?

It's been awhile since I've taken physics, but here I'll try:

10 stories * 10 ft / floor = 100 feet. Let's tack 50 more feet for good measure (1st floor + shoreline?). 150 feet.

been a little bit since i've taken physics, forgive me...

We want to find velocity at the end. v^2 = v0 ^ 2 + 2 * a * (150) = 0 + 2 * 32 * 150 = sqrt(9600) = 97.98 ft / second

Time to fall. V / a = t; 97.98 / 32 ~ 3 seconds

now, do you think a final velocity of about 98 ft / second into water is enough to injure / kill a person?

2 cos^2= sin x + 1

I'm pretty sure I know what the answer is. So most likely I need the work shown. Because I had this question on my test today and I could only get the answer and of course you need to show your work so I probably got it wrong. So if you could just show the work that would help. Any and all different ways to solve the problem would be most helpful also.

I asked this earlier, but no one seemed to be able to solve it so I will ask it again. I got it from the website http://www.mindchallenger.com

Answers are on the site.

This can be a little tricky and there is a simple way to solve it. All the information needed is here for those of you who think it is "unsolveable." The beauty of this puzzle is it appears unsolveable.

Tom and Sally are neighbors and Sally say to Tom, "I want you to guess the ages of my three children. The product of their ages is 36 and the sum of their ages equal your house number." Tom thinks for a minute and says, "I can't solve it. I need another clue." Sally says, "OK. My eldest daughter is doing the laundry." Tom says, "I know their ages." Do you?
