Okay, do you mean (9/4) ^ 1/2 which is sqrt of (9/4)?

This was confusing, but I think that you just have a basic multiplication of fractions, and that the second line is supposed to be possible answers.

(9/4)1/2 You multiply the top numbers together and do the same with the bottom numbers. 9x1/4x2=9/8 or 1 1/8
