In an area of the country that doesn't get much rain fall, I often wonder how the trees are getting enough water. My Mother has a well on her property and gets their water that way... I was wondering approximately how many feet underground do you have to go to find water?!

I live in the City of San Diego. Is there a website that maps out where the water is underground? ... And how deep?

What happens if the temperature reaches.. say... a negative 18 degree Farenheit value? Will some crazy inverted ice drops form or is this just some scientific theoretical thing that is suggesting that if that temperature was reached.. liquid would actually form on grass... hmm.. discuss.?

I've been to Kilauea (Big Island) and Haleakala (Maui) in Hawaii and seen Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii; hiked to the top of Mt Lassen in Cal.; been close to Mt Shasta in Cal; and been more than halfway up Mt Hood in Ore.;been to the Mono Craters right next to Mono Lake in eastern Cal.; and been right under a young 4000 ft volcano in Lake Co., Cal. called Mt Konocti
Plus I've been to Yellowstone and Crater Lake Nat'l Parks, which are ancient calderas (volcanoes that blew their tops in huge eruptions)

Ok so if you are familiar with Earth and Space Science you'll probably know that the Layers of the earth in the order from the surface to the center are:
Crest
Upper Mantle
Lower Mantle
Outer Core
Inner Core

So...here is my question...
I need to know the state of matter (solid, liquid, or gas) in which the material for each layer exists.
I know the outer core is liquid and the Inner Core is Solid.
But what about the others? I need to know ASAP!
Thank you!
