I read on yahoo that this 5 yr old discovery has boggled the mind of scientists and nullifies the theory or Pangea or plate tectonics and thereby possibly nullifying the theory of evolution. please comment if you care and have a relevant opinion.

Sand is the raw material for glass. Sand is plentiful in the Earth's crust. We are in no danger of depleting sand.

Matt White a pitcher for the Dodgers purchased land from a relative. He noticed rock ledges and had it evaluated by a geologist. There are an estimated 24 million tons of this rock. At $100/ton the whole thing is worth a couple billion dollars.

Here's what the article said:
"It's basically a slabby rock that can be used for sidewalks, building faces and stone walls," Pannish said from his Amherst, Mass., office. "You can use it for a lot of other things, like flagstone on a patio. There are some sidewalks right here on campus that are made of that same rock."

What is slabby rock - limestone, slate, something else?

Dolomite is easily recognised from its shape and chemical composition. I have a problem in determining and differenciating crystals thought to be dolomite and/or high Mg calcite (HMC). These are very old carbonates (Late Cret age) and most of the crystals show inclusions and are either euhedral or subhedral-anhedral, they also show high peaks of Mg on EDX. No doubt, these are dolomites....BUT! other crystals (which are cements) are very clean, no inclusions, are planar subhedral-anhedral and show some high Mg peaks on EDX; some are nonplanar too. As old as they are, I would hardly think they are HMC's. Is it possible to find clean sparry crystals (as cements) with the above features to be dolomite? Any ideas? Thanks

im looking for a non-biased website showing both sides of creation vs. evolution.

if it has statistics, they need to be from the world, asia pacific, the southern hemisphere, or Australia.

your point of view would also be appreciated, particuarlaly if you lived in one of the areas listed above.

can you help?
