i know that hexane is non-polar however i am having trouble finding information on its uses as a solvent. I am also wondering how reliable the old adage "like dissolves like" is in relation to polar and non-polar substances and if there is a better adage?

Hey Guys,
I was given some equations to work out for homework. Most of them I have got but some of the harder ones I cannot. For each we have been told one of the products that they form. But this still doesnt help for me.

Can anyone help?

They are:

KMnO4 + FeSO4 (Have been told that it forms MnO2)

FeSO4 + NaSCN (Have been told that it changes Fe2+ to Fe3+)

CuSO4 + HCl (Have been told that it forms [CuCl4]2-)

CuSO4 + NaOH + heat (Have been told that it forms CuO)

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

"Complete and balance the following equations. For reactants, list formulas in the same order as given in the problem statement. If there is more than one product, list the metal-atom containing product first. Enter coefficients without a space between the formula and its coefficient, leaving off coefficients of 1 (1 is implied). For hydrated salts, enter the · as a regular period."
