The cell will burst - lyse - in a hypotonic solution.

A hypotonic solution is one with a low concentration of dissolved materials and a high concentration of pure water.

The cell has a high concentration of dissolved materials and a lower concentration of pure water.

Diffusion will occur due to the different concentrations of water outside and inside the cell. This is called OSMOTIC PRESSURE. The water will diffuse into the cell to try and balance out the concentration. As the water diffuses into the cell the cell will swell up. If too much water diffuses into the cell, the cell membrane cannot bear the pressure and will burst (lyse).

Light-independent reaction
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In photosynthesis, the light-independent reactions, also somewhat misleadingly called the dark reactions (they don't require darkness, but they do require the products of the light reactions), are chemical reactions that convert carbon dioxide and other compounds into glucose. It occurs in the stroma, the fluid filled area of a chloroplast outside of the thylakoid membranes. These reactions, unlike the light-dependent reactions, do not need light to occur; hence the term dark reactions. These reactions take the products of the light-dependent reactions and perform further chemical processes on them. There are two light-independent reactions: carbon fixation and the Calvin-Benson cycle.

However in CAM (Crassulacean acid metabolism) plants, carbon fixation actually does take place at night.

Whats wrong with using wikipedia as source.. Isnt it okay if we get the information that we want..
Those people managed to get the correct answer which is cell lyse and glucose, the same answer that you got from your PhD book!
Quit being arrogant.

Hypotonic solutions have a lower concentration outside the cell. In order to achieve equal concentrations, the cell will take in water to lower the concentration inside the cell. If too much water is taken in, the cell expands until it explodes.

In short, take in water until it lyses.

Oh, and D-glucose.

Please folks, quit using Wikipedia... it makes you appear stupid.
