Our Organic Chemistry Professor gave us a challenge question for extra credit. We have to write a paragraph on the chemical formula of benzodiazepines and I'm having a really hard time. I have a D in the class right now, and I really could use the extra points. So far I've come up with this
R = Methyl Methyl- carboline-3-caroxylate (CCM)
R = Ethyl Ethyl - carboline-3-caroxylate (CCE)
R = Propyl Propy - carboline-3-caroxylate (CCP)
I looked up the chemical formula for Ativan and they were 7- chloro -5- (o-chlorophenyl) -1,3 - dihydro -3- hydroxy -2H- 1,4 - benzodiazepin -2-)
Do you think this is good or do I need to be more specific?

the difference between the 2nd and 3rd uibuzation energies is much larger than the difference between the 1st and 2nd ionization energies. Why so?

ion. energies for Mg. : 1st: 7.6 ev
2nd: 14 ev. and 3rd: 80 ev.

(if u notice double to each energy level)

SC has always baffled me. It seemed sort of impossible. But has it been truly documented that it has happened, or are all these cases of SC fake, meaning that SC is a myth? Please, help out a confused person.

Student C measures distances to a dye spot and to the solvent front from the lowerd edge of a chromatogram instead of from the origin line as instructed. he obtains the following values for the measurements:
Dye spot - 12.8 cm
Solvent front - 19.8 cm
his origin line was drawn 2.5 cm from the lower edge. which of teh dyes could have caused the spot? (carmine yellow, visual purple, or skyy blue?)

if student c had followed the instructions for the preparation of the chromatograph, what would be the distance from teh bottom edge of teh chromatogram to the solvent front and to the dye spot in a properly prepared chromatograph developed for teh same period of time?

The solvent front for that spot is measured to have moved 20.3 cm from the origin.

A) What is the Rf value for the dye spot?

B) From an independent paper chromatograph usin alcohol, the Rf values for teh following dyes are as follows:

Carmine Yellow-.59

Visual Purple-.67

Skyy Blue-.85
