between ionic and molecular compounds? I can't find it in my notes and I can't find the definition I'm looking for on the internet. Also, how can you tell the difference just by looking at the formula? Ex: LiBr
Thanks!

Although I struggled with maths, probably because I didn't like my Maths teacher. I loved Physics, Chemistry and Biology. They were taught separately when I was at school. Chemistry was my favourite.

Phosphorus trichloride gas and chlorine gas react to form phosphorus pentachloride gas.
PCl3(g) + Cl2(g) PCl5(g)

A gas vessel is charged with a mixture of PCl3(g) and Cl2(g), which is allowed to equilibriate at 450 K. At equilibrium the partial pressures of the three gases are PPCl3 = 0.124 atm, PCl2 = 0.157 atm, and PPCl5 = 1.30 atm.
(a) What is the value of Keq at this temperature?

Calculate the standard enthalpy of formation of gaseous diborane.( B2H6) given the following data.

4B(s) + 3O (g)----> 2B2O3 (s) H= -2509.1 kj
2H2(g) + O2(g) ----> 2H2O (l) H = -571.7 kj
B2H6 (g) + 3O2( g) ---> B2O3(s) + 3H2O (l) H= -2147.5 kj

The question I am trying to answer is "What percentage of water is in the compound CuSO4 5H2O?" Now I know to get percentage I need to figure out Molar mass of H2O/Molar mass of CuSO4 5H2O and multiply by 100, but when I try to figure out the molar mass of water do I just get the MM of H20 or do I multiply water by the coefficient 5 because of the 5H20? Please help me..........I got the answer 14.04%, is that correct.

a sample of solid potassium chlorate is heated
and
rubidium metal reacts with hydrogen gas.

C2H4 + ICl5 --> 2 CH2Cl2 + ICl

Given :
ICl5 : -472.5 kj/mol
CH2Cl2 : -403.4 kj/mol
ICl : 135.0 kj/mol

I am having trouble with this homework (yes homework question). Our teacher just threw it at us and hasn't explained it. It is ok if you would just like to explain how to go about it; that would be great so then I can actually learn how to work the problem. Thanks

I know this is a real basic question but my minds gone blank.

Mass(g) = Concentration(g cm-3) x Volume (cm3)

I know the units work out & mathimatically it makes sense, but does this exist in chemistry?
