At my job I do a lot of HPLC. While I understand most of the science behind it and behind the chromatograms, I have no idea what "plate count" means. Can someone enlighten me?

I know that a strong liquid has diffusivity that follows the Arrhenius law, but what does this really mean? The Arrhenius law is that the diffusivity is proportional to exp(-E/kT), but again, what does this really mean?

I own a small bodycare company and have a formula that I would like to re-create. I have consulted with several cosmetic chemists already but they want thousands of dollars to take on the project-which will take them no more than a couple of hours to do. I don't need to own the formula, but I would like to be given the formula and formulating instructions so that my little company can create this all natural product at my facility (house). Any inexpensive suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
