By burial I refer not to anything elaborate but more so to being dumped coffin-less into the ground and have dirt thrown on you?

It seems to me that all cremation would result in would be that you would be turned into pollution (combustion of carbon, for one thing) and allergen causing particles. Burial, on the other hand, would give bacteria, worms, and fungi a chance to thrive as well as promote the life of a tree or something.

So which is the more environmentally friendly, a "paupers burial", or cremation?

I mean sure we evolved from apes or what have you but it was a slow process are apes not evolving still losing theyre fur maybe, i dunno it just seems to me there should be a middle man, a process going on as opposed to here's a monkey heres a man over time one became the other. same with everything else i mean why isnt there a fish which keeps trying to breath air, i realise these things take millions of years but, millions of years have passed. i always thought the same about coal, why is it running out i it not being made constantly, there was a millions years ago now...and now...and now so it should be getting made all the time, the same applies to this i feel there should be weird walking on two legs amphibians. anyone able to shed any light on this?

i wonder why humans were the only species on this planet to develope the "human" characteristics that we posses? we are the only ones who drive, fly and swim by some other means than what was given out during evolution. there have been tens of thousands of things on this earth yet we are very special on the chart of evolution, why is that? just curious.

Weird question but how do they know how to head for the egg? How do they know what to do when they find the egg and how come they don't try and fertilise each other or other or parts of the male sex organs when they're still in the man? Its like they have a mind of their own!

If in fact evolution is real, then where are the creatures that reside between us and apes? Apes are alive and we are alive, both have the resourcefulness to stay alive so where is the between? We have uncovered the remains of dinosaurs, apes, prehistoric fish, and so on,but nothing of this "missing link".. If we did in fact come from apes or fish or reptiles, then please explain to me where the two massive rocks in space came from that made the earth or better yet tell me where the gasses came from to make the sun and the stars, what made them ignite in a place with no oxygen? Please someone make me a believer of this "THEORY !!"

my semi-creationist boyfriend and i are having a friendly debate wherein i'm trying to support evolution, and he's looking for evidence of "something that addresses the spontaneous life that sparked evolution to begin with. (aka how single cell organisms came to be)." I'm sure I could google away and find something, but does anyone have a good, easy-to-understand explanation? Even better, a website that explains it well?

Thanks!

My kids asked me this and I didn't have an answer. I assume it does because the definition of a calorie is the amount of energy it takes to raise 1 gram of water 1 degree. So if you take away that energy, then you take away the calories.
+++ Please no hate-mail about dieting and kids, we're not on a diet, we eat very well and we're all a healthy weight. ;) We have no intentions of eating charcoal. +++

These subcellular "organisms" (?) fascinate me because they challenge current scientific ideas about what is life.

My personal view: Science as yet has no clear understanding of what "life" is. Merely giving a shopping list of what "most" living things have (replication, metabolism, cell walls etc.) doesn't "define" life but merely describes "most" of it..(not the same thing).
