Personally, I think they aren't.
They don't exhibit ALL the characteristics of living things.

Without a "host cell", the virus is just there. As still as a rock. (not literally though...)

It seems to me that if the definition of dinosaurs was scientifically based then elephants, hippopotamus, and possibly some other large land mamals would be classified as dinosaurs. Perhaps someone can help me understand what is the basis of the definition of dinosaurs. To say that extinction is one of the defining attributes is not a biological criteria.

I've passed out twice in my life and each time I started dreaming. Of course, I didn't realize I'd passed out until I came to but it was much more disorienting because I'd been dreaming and didn't know what was going on at first. I talked to a friend about it and he said that he started dreaming when he passed out once at the doctor's. So why is that?
