I just came from the SCIENCE & MATH section and there is not a single paranormal ghost or psychic question there.
You are all clicking on the alternative and the paranormal for alterior reasons you are not claiming.
All you have to since it seems to bother you all so much is to go to the top of this page and click on the blue words, SCIENCE & MATH and you will not see a single ghostie,
You are coming to this section and you know good and well what you are doing.
Go to the main section, but then again, I never see any of you over there, only here where you can argue and complain.

Is anything worth believing in so strongly above public scrutiny?

If the paranormal is as real as many believers claim, shouldn't it be able to survive such public evaluation?

Should any group be allowed to make any claim at all and expect those claims to be immune from public examination?

I am not defending the rude, childish or inappropriate of any camp. I am asking why it is believers in the paranormal are so adamant that their beliefs be treated like a sacred cow.

Often times in my life if I imagine something happening it happens. This is a perfect example and this kind of stuff happens ALLL the time...Last Night I was going downstairs to use the bathroom and when I turned the basement light on it flickered for a long time like a strobe light and it sort of freaked me out...I thought for a minute Oh Great, the Poltergeist are back (Because I am often haunted by poltergeist, shadow people, etc) But, I was sitting in the bathroom (sorry) and my daughters bedroom door is right next to the bathroom, I heard her in there singing and was going to tease her about singing herself to sleep. Decided not to. Then when I was on my way upstairs I was thinking again, what if there's something down there, what if it did something and scared her. Then a few minutes later she came upstairs and said something locked her door (which was not all the way closed when i was down there) and she felt pricklies and a hand on her arm. This ALWAYS HAPPENS!

Alright, so EVP = ghosts, but not necessarily. I am a paranormal investigator and I am compiling a list of false positives and known, environmental phenomena. I do know some ways a non-anomalous phenomenon can appear anomalous when recorded, but I would like input from anyone even if it is stating the obvious.

It is an eye horn.
It is like a shoe horn but it is for putting your eyeball back in the socket when it accidentially pops out.
I'm sure those of you who have had to do this on your own, without my invention have had trouble with getting your eyelid stuck behind the eyeball when you pop it back in. Sort of like when you step into your shoe and the upper back of the heel gets stuck under your foot when you don't use a shoe horn.
I was thinking blue would be a good color.

For those EVPers who believe in the non-acoustic model of EVP, e.g., "the spirit impresses the information directly on the tape or recording device", my question is why do you use microphones at all then?

For those EVPers who believe in the acoustic model of EVP, e.g., a spirit speaks audible words despite not having vocal chords, how is it possible that the recording device can pick up the sound while the human ear cannot? This especially goes out to those who claim to have Class A EVPs where the supposed ghost voice has a volume nearly as loud as those of the ghost hunters making the recording.

My mother had a dream that a man was driving a red motorcycle and collided and died. The next day my uncle was out driving his red motorcycle and he collided and died. My mother also dreamed my father's death and the next day he died the exact same way she dreamed it. Also, the other day I was watching AMERICA'S PSYCHIC CHALLENGE on Lifetime. They had this guess which phone would ring game for before the commercial break. She guessed 2 and when the show came back on they announced 2 was the phone. After my uncle died 4 years ago, I would write him medium sized letters. In my sleep he would reply to them. I never told anyone. I thought it was just a dream. Then about 5 months ago on Oprah they did a special on EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) & talking with the dead. I was like "OMG! I'm not crazy!" and I googled it and listened to people's EVPs. So I set up a recorder infront of my dad's um. I replayed the tape and forwards it read, "I tried to get up." Backwards it reads, "I love you, pumpkin." AND IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE HIM! Then about 2 months ago I made a darkroom downstairs in a room in our basement. I had to move my Grandpa's fishing gear. Well, the next day I go down there the fishing stuff had been moved to the original spot. My mom never goes into that room. She only goes downstairs to do the laundry. I set up my recorder and sure enough my grandpa left a message calling out my mom's name over and over again. Has anyone else ever encountered EVP or stuff?

I am not sure I understand the whole EVP thing. Can it only be something you didn't hear the first time to count as an evp? I received a message on my phone from my grandfather yesterday, who died recently. Does that count as an evp?
